For Windows Users:  The Authorware Web Player will run on most computers running Windows XP, Vista or 7.

For Mac Users:  You will need Firefox 3.5.2 (Firefox 3.5.3 and Safari 4 or above will not allow the Authorware plugin to be recognized.)

To download the Authorware Web Player for Macs, go to the webpage: www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates  Scroll to the bottom of the page and download the "complete" version for either OS X or OS 9.

To download the Authorware Webplayer for Windows, you must first set up Adobe.com and hotelaccountinginstitute.com as Trusted Sites in Internet Explorer as follows:

  12. The Security Tab will still be open.  Click OK on the Security tab, then close Internet Explorer.
  13. Reopen Internet Explorer and go to the website www.adobe.com  If it was correctly added to the Trusted Sites, the bottom bar of the Internet Explorer window should say 'Protected Mode: Off'.

To download the Web Player:

  1. Go to the webpage www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates
  2. Scroll down the page to the section titled "Authorware Player".  For Windows users (including Vista and 7), click on "Authorware Web Player 2004" under the browser you use.
  3. Under "Get Macromedia Authorware Web Player", click on the INSTALL NOW button.
  4. If you get a yellow bar towards the top of the IE screen that says:  "This website wants to install the following add-on - "Authorware Web Player" from Macromedia Inc.  If you trust....click here".  You will need to click on the yellow bar, then click "Install this add-on"
  5. If you get a box that pops up saying "Windows needs permission..." click the Continue button.
  6. You will probably get another box asking you if you want to install this software.  Click Install.
  7. Let the software install, and if it is successful, you should get a short video that will show up on the Adobe website page you are on.

Once the Web Player has been installed, you can go back to our website and click on "About Online Courses" on the left hand side bar.  (Again, since you have added our website as a trusted site, you will note the bottom of the screen says: 'Protected Mode: Off')

On the page titled "Taking Online Courses", click the line "Click here to start the demo".

Scroll down the page (Online Course Demo Page) to the orange START button and click on it.

The first time you run a course, you will get a window asking you about Authorware Web Player Security and if you want to run the program.  Click OK.  The Demo course should begin.
